Look a little closer
Textile collections include many construction techniques, and woven and knitted structures are two familiar starting points. A construction label alone does not tell you every property of a finished accessory. Yarn, thickness, finish and design also affect the object you handle.
A note for your design book
Use a documented sample or clearly labelled everyday item to study visible structure. Write down the source of the construction label and distinguish it from your own observations. Avoid pulling or stretching a delicate historical piece for an experiment. A simple sketch of the visible pattern can support learning while keeping performance claims tied to actual testing.
