Look a little closer
A scarf laid in folds and a structured bag supported from within occupy different shapes in storage. Condition, construction and material influence what support may be appropriate. A general photograph of a tidy shelf does not demonstrate a preservation method.
A note for your design book
Record the present arrangement and any visible pressure or distortion without forcing the object into a new shape. Keep everyday organisation separate from conservation of historical textiles or leather. Consult the maker’s care guidance for ordinary items and collection-specific advice for historic ones. Your note should explain the question a specialist needs to assess rather than promise that one storage arrangement suits everything.
